Book Sales

Friends of the Library Permanent Book Sale

Are you looking for some good, clean used books? The Friends of the Le Sueur Library house a permanent book sale in the library’s public meeting room. Made up primarily of current paperbacks, the collection also includes some current hardback fiction and non-fiction as well as children’s books. The booksale is open anytime there is not a meeting in progress.

Once a month, a Friends volunteer goes through the books donated to the book sale and weeds out all the books that are dirty, yellowed, musty or outdated. The clean ones are added to the sale and color coded for that month so regular shoppers always know which ones have been recently added.

Friends of the Library Book Donation Policy

The Friends welcome your used books as they use the money they raise to puchase library materials that the regular library budget cannot afford. Please think of the Friends when you are weeding your personal collections! They are pleased to accept current bestsellers, paperbacks and children’s books in good condition. If not needed for the library collection, items may be added to the book sale.

Thoughtful donations are appreciated however, we do no accept:

  •  textbooks
  •  Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
  •  magazines, including National Geographic
  •  torn, damp, mildewed, musty, yellowed, highlighted or other damaged books
  •  encyclopedias
  •  newspapers

All donations must be brought to the Circulation Desk. Please do not leave them outside or place them in the bookdrop. Due to limits on storage space and staff time, we ask you to bring no more than 3 boxes or bags at a time. We reserve the right to refuse books. Those not needed by the library or the booksale will be recycled. Waste Management of Le Sueur will accept your old books and magazines for recycling.
